Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron
Forget everything you know- or think you know- about Cinderella. This story, which takes place 200 years after Cinderella’s death, tears apart the classic tale of Cinderella that we have all likely heard. This story follows sixteen-year-old Sophia, a girl who lives in Lille, a kingdom under extremely strict rule. Each year, the girls in the kingdom of Lille must attend a ball held at the palace, where the men of the kingdom will choose one to marry. The girls who do not get chosen face a terrible fate. Sophia does not want to marry a man, let alone one from Lille. She plans to flee the ball. How will she do it under the king’s watch? Sophia’s journey has many great twists and turns. This book touches on topics such as racism and misogyny. It is also a bit romantic. Nonetheless, it will keep you hooked from beginning to end!

You might have heard the phrase “best of both worlds”, but what about the worst of both worlds? This is what sixteen-year-old Starr Carter faces in the book “The Hate U Give”. This story follows Starr, a girl who lives in a poor neighborhood but goes to a wealthy prep school. One day, she witnesses her childhood best friend fall victim to police brutality. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
If you’re interested in reading a book series, this one is for you. The series as a whole is called “The Folk of the Air '' series. The Cruel Prince is the first book in the series.
