A Quick Guide to Ontario University Tours
By Rahul Gigi
Now that we are well into the school year, with OUAC info being handed out in the Piazza today, the realities of university applications have started to settle into the minds of our Grade 12 students. In addition to the pressures of classes and extracurriculars, senior students are placed under the stress of preparing to enter post-secondary. In order to ease the process, I have created a brief overview of the info from the Ontario University Fair in Toronto and the Jean Vanier University Fair along with a list of open houses for some universities in Ontario.
The Ontario University Fair was hosted at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on September 27-29th. All 21 Ontario Universities were present with representatives from specific departments and programs. This event included those specialized in graduate school admissions requirements, graduate school pathways and a plethora of other topics of interest when applying to university.
Similarly, the Jean Vanier University Fair presented all 21 Universities in Ontario. Since the space is significantly smaller and does not tend to have as many visitors, only 1 to 2 representatives were present from each university.
If you missed out on these events or are in need of additional information regarding your search, a campus tour or open house is a great opportunity to ask questions about programs, residence, and other aspects to expect in the first year. For more information regarding events that will be occurring such as open houses, campus tours etc., feel free to visit ontariouniversitiesinfo.ca, the website of the university you are researching and even your guidance counsellor to clear any misconceptions or plan your pathway. We wish all of you good luck and hope that this helps make your university search easier!
