A Royal Christmas: What is it?
Proverbs 21:26 “. . . the righteous gives and does not hold back.”
This verse from the book of Proverbs is reflective of a campaign going on at Bishop Reding in partnership with Holy Rosary Parish this Christmas season.
Who is involved? Bishop Reding students and staff are coming together to support families in need in our school community.
What is it? Our school community is working together to donate gifts, groceries, and more to those in need. Each first-period class is partnered with a family in need through the program. The class is then responsible for contributions and collecting items catered towards the family.
Where does this take place? In our school community! We don’t always realize it, but there are many families in need within our own Bishop Reding student body.
When is this happening? Two student representatives have participated in meetings at the chapel to gather information on the families and then share with their classmates. The representatives will bring down all donations on December 19, 2018, and special volunteers will help prepare and wrap the gifts to then give to the families.
Why is this important? Although we may forget sometimes, the person sitting right next to us may be fighting their own financial battle. We need to be loving and giving towards them, especially during the holidays.
How can this help? By all making small donations, we are exercising our Catholic social teachings of loving and helping others. In the bigger picture, we are working to spread appropriate Christmas values of happiness and joy.
Any students whose first period classes are not participating may join another first period class to donate.
A special thanks to Mr. Campanelli for the inside scoop!
