Shanze Khurram, Grade 12

is real.

It’s something I inevitably went through,

even though I didn't want to.

But it's tough

having to make memories

knowing one day

they will be what you long for.

And when you get to that point

the truth finally sets in,

and you realize that everything is only temporary

no matter how hard you try.

But I'm okay with it.

I learned that moving on with your life is a pleasure

and outgrowing people is part of the process.

People come and go.

Some are solely lessons,

others memories

and they are not always here to stay.

Simply, people change.

It's like holding a rose with thorns,

looking at you,

you were so beautiful,

but holding you

and left thorns in my hand.

I used to care a lot,

too much, actually,

about staying in the same place.

But I soon realized,

caring for things brings too much trouble.

The world has been burning for a long time.

It's all about perspective.

I guess forever never really means forever, and

good things must come to an end.
