Scratch Art Student Artwork!

The Grade 9 students in the Visual Arts classes recently explored the element of texture by creating scratch art. Texture is one of the seven elements of art, used to create the visual illusion of a surface feel. Students studied and applied this element by incorporating texture in their scratch art pieces. Scratch art is a unique and interesting way to explore the element, as it encourages students to study their subject matter with a new focus and perspective. To create a piece of this medium, the students used X-ACTO knives to scrape their design into the scratch paper. The hard work and designs of these artists have proved to be a successful approach to this element.
